How Phoenix Motor Co. rose from the ashes

Throughout the 1960's & 70's Pilkington motors were the area's Peugeot dealership, with multiple showrooms. However in the late 70's having experienced a decline in business they were forced to wind up and the entire workforce lost thier jobs. However, two mechanics, a painter and a body man had an idea of how to survive. They took an industrial unit on the Chesterfield trading estate near Sheepbrige and formed a partnership aptley named THE PHOENIX MOTOR CO. That was way back in 1979 and the name and the flame continues in the same spirit. The key fob pictured (left) is probably all that remains of the old firm.
